Lack of logic, not talent, has Windies in a spin by FP Staff Oct 11, 2014 08:42 IST #BuzzPatrol #Govinda #Happy Ending #Illuminati Films #Saif li Khan #TrailerWatch
Bollywood heroes are not good at ageing. So, when Saif Ali Khan admits in the trailer of Happy Ending that while he may not be young, he is at least "young at heart", you've got to wonder whether this is Khan's idea of reverse psychology. We won't know the answer to that question until the film releases, here's what we can tell from the trailer.
Saif Ali Khan pulls a Richard Castle: If any one of you are fans of the American TV series Castle, you might see a marked resemblance between the fictitious bestselling author who is the hero of that series and Khan's Yudi Jaitley. While writers of the real world might grind their teeth at Happy Ending's take on being a successful author, Khan seems quite in his element as the flamboyant, successful and middle-aged literary rockstar. Incidentally, the book that's made Khan all the moolah is one titled Operation Payback. We wouldn't recommend any aspiring writers look to Yudi for tips on titles at any rate.

Govinda's Armaan is the product of all that is wrong with Bollywood: Govinda plays the role of Bollywood star Armaan, who goes to Hollywood to get a Bollywood script written in Hollywood style. Yudi is entrusted with this task. Armaan, of course, has all the cheesy one liners and who would have a more profound understanding of Bollywood and its nuances than Govinda? No wonder then that he sounds properly authentic when he says to Yudi,"Yeh hatke kya hai? Hatke kuch bhi nahi hai." ["What is this hatke? It's nothing."] Tell that to a Bollywood producer.
Ileana D'Cruz is hot: While D'Cruz might have charmed the Bollywood audiences with her demure portrayal of the beautiful Shruti Ghosh in Barfi!, but in Happy Ending she's in a very different avatar. Although it is difficult to say how substantial her role is as Yudi's "muse", but she's looking fantastic.
The supporting cast is star-studded: From the look of things, Happy Ending is going to have some seriously starry cameos. In addition to Ranvir Shorey and Kalki Koechlin, the trailer gives us glimpses of Preity Zinta and Kareena Kapoor. We're keeping our fingers crossed that Koechlin and Shorey won't be wasted in the film.
Directed by Raj & DK, Happy Ending has been produced by Illuminati Films and is slated for 21 November release.
